Facial Massage For Beginners - Skin Over 60
Facial Massage For Beginners
To learn about facial massage you must first learn about how to use oils on your skin. It's not anything to be afraid of at all, in fact, oils are excellent for skin health and there is a type for most any type of skin - including oily and acne-prone.
For skin over 60, facial massage is very beneficial. You can follow the instructions here to get you started. Include facial massage every morning and/or night to help increase circulation, gently firm underlying facial muscles, and give your face a lightly "lifted" look.
OK. Here's what you need to know....
Oils For Facial Massage
Apricot Kernel Oil - Light and nourishing, and excellent for dry or mature skin. This is one to choose if you have visible signs of sun damage or high stress.
Camellia Oil -The most versatile of any oil for facial massage and can be used for any skin type.
Grape Seed Oil - Nongreasy, grape seed oil absorbs in quickly, and does a terrific job of prepping the skin for massage.
Jojoba Oil - A golden, liquid wax, jojoba oil is easy to find in most health food stores, drugstores and beauty supplies. And is another type suitable for most skin.
The Chin Firming Stroke
Start with your hands on either side of your face; with your palms and fingertips, stroke slowly up the sides of the face and up to the forehead, then glide back down again lightly. Keep the pressure constant but not firm. Repeat three times. The emphasis in this movement is pressure up the face, and then easing off.
The Forehead Smoothing Stroke
Place your fingertips together in the middle of your forehead, press firmly, and glide out to the sides. Lift the fingers off, returning to the starting position. Repeat three times. This movement smooths out the forehead.
The Eye Lift Stroke
Using only a minimal amount of oil to ease the movement, place your fingertips at the sides of your eyes and stroke around the bony edge of the eye socket. Work up over the eyebrows, down the center of the nose, under the eyes, and back to the starting position. Repeat three times. This movement helps to improve eyestrain and the oil lubricates the skin in the orbital eye area.
