Caffeine - Good For You Or Not?

 


The question about caffeine being good for you or not comes down to the answer to another question:  "Do you have any medical reasons for avoiding caffeine?"  The answer to that question is the ultimate response to whether or not beverages and skin care products that contain caffeine are actually beneficial for you.  

Among my other studies, my time as a student at the former Clayton College Of Natural Health as Holistic Nutrition major, caused me to concentrate quite bit on whether or not caffeine is good for the body. 

First Things First

If you get jittery or experience insomnia from caffeine products that is actually a health reason for avoiding it. 

That aside, your body might benefit from caffeine.  Read on.

Calming You Down.  

Yes, caffeine can have that affect on some of us.  Especially if you consume a large amount of caffeine, it can actually help you to wind down and decompress.  Thus, the reason why you see many move and TV scenes where people will "sit down with a cup of Joe" to have important conversations. From my experience around filmmaking, there is always a coffee station for any of the cast and crew to fill their cups at will.  It can make a person feel more chill.  

Good For Your Skin. 

There are many skin care products on the market, especially body care products, that include caffeine in their ingredients.  The reasons why can vary, however, many companies taut that caffeine can help reduce the appearance of cellulite on the skin.  Not cure it, mind you, but make it less noticeable. 

The caffeine absorbs into the skin, and since it's a natural diuretic, attracts moisture as it goes down the layers.  Once it begins to draw up subcutaneous fluid, that fluid rises to the surface, and is brushed away by friction.  Remember that this is not a miracle, and that results will vary from person to person.  With that said, I have heard of wonderful results.
