Spring Cleaning - Detoxify Your Body
Spring Cleaning For Your Body
The main aim of this post is to teach you how to work with your body’s natural detoxification, or waste removal if you will, process. This isn’t intended to be one of those quick weight-loss gimmicks. It’s something you should do at different times of the year based on your lifestyle and/or what’s happening around you.
As an example, you should follow these guidelines if you’ve just had a cold or the flu, or are experiencing an increase in your usual stress. Alternatively, you can simply opt to follow these instructions once or twice per year to help ward off health issues from congestion to minor allergic reactions.
How To Spring Clean Your Body Naturally
It’s not only cutting out certain foods or including others that help you get rid of toxins your body has been storing, and reducing the appearance of cellulite at the same time, but it’s equally important that you pay special attention to what you’re eating and how you’re preparing it.
Eating Tips
- Keep to lean proteins, fresh fruit and veggies. Cut out bread and sweets of any kind, except pure honey.
- No alcohol or caffeine. Choose citrus fruit as an in-between meal snack.
- Eat slowly and chew your food thoroughly.
- Do not drink liquids at mealtimes, as they tend to dilute the digestive juices and therefore making it harder for your body to break down your food.
- Make sure you are drinking 8 to 10 glasses of water every day.
- Avoid adding heavy gravies, creamy salad dressings and other rich condiments to your food. A healthier option is to use pureed fruit, a simple salsa of cucumber and tomato, and for salads extra virgin olive oil with lemon juice.
- Check the labels of what you’re eating to look out for high fat and sodium content. Opt for lower fat and lower sodium or better yet sodium-free varieties.
Drinking Tips
Water
Maintaining a healthy balance of fluids is always essential when cleansing out your system. To make drinking your 8 to 10 glasses of water per day more palatable, add to it a slice of lemon, lime, orange or even a small amount of honey. If using flavored water, be sure that it’s not sweetened and that it is not artificially flavored.
Fruit Juices
These can be drunk in addition to the water, however, they need to be pure, unsweetened varieties, and from organically grown fruit as much as possible. If you have a juicer, it’s best to make your own. Keep your juice consumption to one 10 ounce glass per day.
Herbal Teas
These can be incredibly beneficial to the body’s detoxification process. Choose organically grown herbal teas such as chamomile, ginger, pau d’arco, and senna. Drink three cups per day.
After a week or two of following this closely, you will feel, look and even breath better! So, get out and enjoy the beautiful Spring weather!
