Nancy's Sat Chat Get Out And Do It - Advice From An Autism Mom
What It Means To Be An Autism Mom
That is probably different for every mom of an autistic child. The age of the child, the severity of the autistic challenges, and other possible health problems of the child and/or the parent, all come into the equation.
For me, it's been a shock. Not now of course, I'm well aware of my son's difficulties. But at first. In the early days. And it has created a kind of post-traumatic-stress-disorder that I deal with every day.
Get Out And Do It
Absolutely! Getting out into the fresh air and sunshine, or even rain and not-so-warm weather, makes a huge difference. It's easy to get into a rut and cocoon up. Especially when you have a son who does not want to go places and do things, such as I do.
But that does not mean I, and my husband as well, have to live within the four walls and not venture out. Because we can. Even if it's a short period of time, and for me that can amount to taking 20 minutes to water and check on my garden, it helps to reduced stress.
My advice? Don't let yourself get into that rut!
Sat Chat
I am getting into a routine of publishing content on my YouTube Channel daily. For Saturdays, I will be adding a chat, so-called my "Sat Chat".
Today is about getting out and doing things. Each week will be a different topic, so I hope you tune in and listen.
Thank you for all the kind support!
