This chat is focused on the vitamins and supplements I personally take to prevent problems with menopause.  In particular, the problem of weight gain that happens to many women during this time.  

No Weight Gain 

One of the reasons a healthy woman gains unwanted weight is that she is not getting proper nutrition.  When that happens, our bodies can "cry out" for food even when we eat regular meals.  

The hunger response is Mother Nature's way to signal to us that we need to put vitamins, minerals and other types of food such as protein, into our diet.  When we do not get enough of the proper nutrients, we can feel constantly hungry.  This is one way that we can put on the pounds.  

Menopause Vitamins 

I swear by prenatal vitamins.  If you do your homework, or just look at your own experience as a woman, you will find that our bodies need lots of magnesium, calcium, potassium and iron, in particular, from the time we go through puberty forward.  

So, basically, we have similar needs, and see similar symptoms, during PMS, post pregnancy, and menopause.  I have personally found that the three are very much alike.  

Therefore, taking prenatal vitamins is a great idea.  They help supply our bodies with those aforementioned minerals, which can reduce the constant feeling of being hungry.  And, as a nice bonus, they so happen to be easier to digest than most other multivitamins.
