Podcast - Parent Reaction To Acetaminophen Autism Connection
Reaction To Acetaminophen Autism Connection
I go into lots of detail in this podcast, but let me give you a sample of my opinion.
I'm An Autism Mom
My son was born in 1992. It was a perfect pregnancy, and an uncomplicated delivery. He was beautiful. Pink skin, 21.5 inches long, 8.5lbs. It was a beautiful, happy, experience.
A few years later my son's speech was not coming along as it should, and so, after visits to specialists, the word "autism" began to be said. It was shocking, heartbreaking, and bit terrifying. Why terrifying? Because there was no answer for it. No treatment to stop the progress of autism. Just a list of drugs to "try" and therapies that did not all sound right for my child.
What I Did
After a negative experience with the public school system, I rolled up my sleeves and began the task of learning about autism, and homeschooling my son.
Do I Think Acetaminophen Caused Autism
Not in my son's case it did not. I never took any during my pregnancy, and honestly, I don't take it under normal circumstances either. I never found it to be helpful from a young age (monthly cramps and all that), and so I stayed away from it.
I believe other things may be a factor in cases like my son's. There are still questions to be answered. Hopefully, scientists are getting closer to doing that.
